Check us out at Rainbow Park, located just next to the Silverthorne Recreation Center. They had a big hill there so we decided to bring our sleds there for some sledding. The kids loved it!

Behold, our new hot tub patio. We spent the entire summer preparing the foundation, setting boulders, pouring concrete, erecting a privacy fence, running electricity, and setting our brand new hot tub. We had the opportunity to use it a couple of times before we had to head home. This hot tub is relaxing!:

We have added Video On Demand (VOD) to the Ski Silverthorne Lodge. We use a Western Digital WDLive that is attached to an external hard drive. We transferred our movie library of nearly 400 movies to the drive. The WDLive accesses the hard drive and plays the movies straight from the hard drive. Check out this tutorial that we made about it:

Last night when we got home from Denver around 9:30pm my daughter Lexa said she saw something with a bushy tail and pointed ears. We told her that she might have seen a bobcat. Instead, it turned out to be a fox! This fox seems to be used to people. It got within 20 feet of us. Any time it would run away we whistled, and it would come back. Obviously the fox has been interacting with humans for a while. It was hungry and we tossed the fox a couple of franks from the refrigerator. Instead of eating them the fox held them in its mouth and carried them away. This made us think that maybe the fox had some young she was trying to feed. Check out the pictures. I had to put my powerful flash on the camera so that it would reach far enough into the darkness to get a good picture of the fox. Click on the images to see a larger picture.

Staying at the Ski Silverthorne Lodge got even better this morning, thanks to our new Keurig coffee maker. This thing is neat. All you do is pick your flavor, load it into the machine, and out comes one fresh brewed cup of coffee. We'll try to make sure to have some of this coffee on hand for all of our wonderful guests! Check out the video:

You have got to come to see our latest addition to our skisilverthorne lodge. We have hung 3 skiing trail maps for each of the ski Mountains: Breckenridge, Keystone and Copper Mountain that are vey close to our place. The maps are 5 x 5 -that is big enough for the guests to stand around and point out the trails they took or would like to take the next day. You and your friends can plan their ski routes for the next day right here in our place while you are relaxing. Saddle up on our saddle bar stools, have a drink and look over the numerous trail routes that you and your buddies can go and enjoy. This is much better than having to wait until the morning you are skiing, trying to hold a small map in your hand out in the cold and then everyone trying to pick a trail that they would like to do. Avoid the confusion, plan the night before and then beat the lines b/c you know exactly where you are going and what lift you need to take you there. While eating dinner or breakfast, your party can be reviewing the trails and knowing exactly where you will all go and where you can all meet up. The more familiar you are with the trails and layout of the mountain, the easier your ski day will be once you are out in the snow and wind. You and your party will be glad for the extra preparation and knowledge you have. So come check it out.

Check out the gas grill at our place. We shelled out a big fat two grand for this baby, but she was worth every dime of it. This grill is totally awesome. It hooks to the main gas from the house and has an automatic shutoff that can be set from 0-3 hours.

We ate at Bagali's Italian Resturant on Friday evening, 6/12/09. The atmosphere was pleasant. There were small groups of adults having conversation while a jazz band played off in the corner. It was nice to have a band play at a low volume where it was still easy to carry on a conversation. There were lots of breakables everywhere so we were a little nervous with a 6 year old, 5 year old, and a 2 year old.
While the wait for our food was a little long, the waitress brought out pizza slices for the kids to keep them calm. When we got our food it delicious. I had alfredo noodles topped with scallops, and Lisa had spaghetti with veal parmesan.
Try to eat here on your next skiing vacation, but leave the kids at the lodge if you have the luxury.

We rode the Georgetown Loop Railroad. There are two places to catch the train. You can catch the Georgetown Loop Railroad in Silver Plume and ride it down to Georgetown and back. Or you can catch the train in Georgetown and ride it up to Silver Plume and back. Georgetown and Silver Plume are about 2 miles from each other. The Georgetown Loop Railroad travels a winding track and takes about 20-30 minutes each trip to slowly make its way back and forth between Georgetown and Silver Plume.
If you're in to magnificent views then the Georgetown Loop Railroad tour might be what you're looking for. There are lots of camera moments as you slowly wind your way between towns. At one point each way you will cross a bridge that is a couple hundred feet long, inclines 6 feet from end to end, and is about 100 feet off the ground. A river runs below the bridge.

Today while we were in Breckenridge a big black bear wondered into downtown. The Breckenridge police chased the bear around town for several hours before running it up a tree right on main street. We hung around for about 15 minutes and took some pictures and video of the bear. This bear is rather large to be a black bear. Normally they aren't this big. The crowd kept getting bigger and bigger so we left. We don't know how the police finally got the bear out of the tree.
